IMPERIAL POLITICS.
'THE MECCA OF LIBERALISM. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) Loudon, September VI. The Conservative evening papers are jubilant at the capture of the Mecca of Radicalism. The Liberal papers attribute the result.te a split in the Progressive ranks. The- Unionists are bound to win a few bye-elections under such circumstances.
SIB CHURCHILL AT DUNDEE. Mr Churchill, speaking at Dundee, said that no split vote at by-elections and no Tory abuse would prevent the Government passing the Homo Rule and Insurance Bills. They might be improved in detail, but they were irrevocable, because they wer-e indispensable to the twelve million policies already alive.
Major Hope attributes the result of the election to a desire I'm- an amendment of the Insurance Act rather than a. dislike of Home Rule or Disestablishment. The Liberals bitterly comment on the folly of the Labourites in presenting 1 the seat to the Unionists.
