In the championship semi-finals, Imlay Saunders (Wanganui), playing a very line game, beat Kapi Tareha (Hawke's Hay), 5 up and 4 to play, effecting a surprise. Two local men Druce and Barraund, had to go to the 21st hole before Barraund won. The final in the afternoon provided a splendid game. Both went out in 37, and came home in 12. Barraund beating Saunders I up. Barraund once before won this championship, and is the local club champion. I). K. Murray (8), (Hawke's Bay) won the bogey handicap 2 up. E. G. CYCLING. Cbristehurch, September 12. For the Timaru-Ciiristehuroh cycle

road race, which will be run on Thursday next, 120 entries have been received. The scratch ten will leave Timaru at 9.30 a.m., and, if the weather conditions are normal, are expected to reach Christchureh at 3 p.m. The race will finish at the Plumpton Park Trotting ground, the Canterbury Park Trotting Club having granted the use of the ground.
