A young woman named Josepha Kennedy,. charged with assaulting James Potts with a hatpin and causing him serious bodily harm, appeared at the Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to enable the evidence of the pol ice and medical attendant to bo taken at Tapanui. Robert Stewart, licensee of the Club Hotel, ami Michael John Crowe, licensee of the Bay View Hotel, both of the Bluff, were charged with allowing a person under 21 years of age to be supplied with liquor. Richard Finnerty, barman at the Club Hotel, and Donald Cameron and Mary Daniels, employed at the Bay View Hotel, were conjointly charged with serving a poison under 21 years of ago with liquor. The defence was that the persons supplying the liquor were under the impression that the youth was over the ago limit!
