Mr. El wood Mead, of‘Victoria, who is on route to Salt Lake City, to_ attend the Irrigation Congress, arrived at Chicago in the company of Sir Goo. Reid. Speaking at a luncheon of the trade relations between Australia and the United States, he declared that only the assistance of Americans was required to make Australia the United States of the Southern Hemisphere.
