The official estimate of the area under wheat for tYio current season elbows that there is but 1400 acres over that of the previous season. The smallness of the increase, compared with the big advances of the three previous seasons, is due to the long drought, the sowing time being consequently later. Tlhle recent rains, however, have greatly improved the position, and the prospects of there being a good average yield are most encouraging.
