... o DUMPING UNDESIRABLES. (Received 9.0 a.m.) Sydney, September 5. Many of the recent robberies in Sydney are attributed to American criminals. An American youth has been sentenced to 18 month®’ imprisonment for snatching a bag containing £2O. At the trial cuttings from 'American newspapers were read indicating trial accused was convicted, of sticking up u a saloon in California and that the Judge imposed a probationary .sentence of live years, conditional on prisoner spending the term with his uncle in Australia.
The Crown Prosecutor declared that American judges had a delightful way if sentencing prisoners to probation, ■otherwise sending them out of t.u country. For. some time past, apparently, America- had been sending criminals out to Australia.
