GENERAL CABLES.
RAILWAY BRIDGE COLLAPSES; New York, September 3. Lit Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, four railwajmen were killed. A passenger train plunged into the river owing to a bridge being destroyed by the Hoods. Twenty-six passengers were seriously injured. The smoking-car was carried down stream, the panic-stricken o:w,pants strivincg to escape by the windows. The other cars remained on the tracks. Passengers attired in their iiiglivtelothcs struggled wildly to have their berths, fearing that the cars would follow the others rive-r----wards. The train had previously pacs<d the bridge safely and was ordered to return to Camp Douglas to await repairs to the line, which was damaged by a wash-out further on. At the f::>cond crossing tho bridge collapsed bodily.
MANY HURT AT BOXING MATCH. New York, September 3. In a fight at Trinadad, Colorado, wl.erein Bennie Chavis was awarded Uie dcc'sion over Monte Attcll, the spectators crowded the ring and the platform collapsed. Many were hurt. THE NORWICH FLOODS. London, September 3. A number of unsafe buildings have been dismantled at Norwich. A hundred were condemned as unlit for habitation. Queen Alexandra has contributed £IOO to the Norwich fund. THE TRADES CONGRESS. London, September 3. Mr Will Thome, in n presidential address at the Trades Union Congress at Newport, blamed tihe Government for defeating the transport workers, .lie declared that the coal strike had brought nationalisation nearer. The Scottish dockers' delegate asked the Congress to repudiate syndicalism, but was ruled out of order. MORE CAItLITmAIMTNG . (Received 4, 9 a.m.) London, September «'i.
