In each city the merit of their performance was responsible for exceptional business. “Ti\o Dandies” present a programme which is at once clean, bright, and vivacious. The personnel of the company consists of a coterie of clever artists. Miss Hilda Lane is a gifted soprano; Miss Evelyn Ward, a delightful contralto; while Miss Irene V ere, as soubrecte and dancer, slimes conspicuously throughout the performance The male members ot me company include Mr Claude Dumpier, a comedian whoso fund of humour is great; Mr Gavin Wood, an excellent oasso Mr H. Peacock, a line robust baritone; and Mr George Madigaig a Ihdit comedian and dancer of exceptional skill. HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE, The local picture management screened for the second time last night •i highly enjoyable selection ot nlins, the theatre being well filled with an appreciative audience, 'i he programme presented was interesting as well as instructive, and contained dramatic, comic, and educational subjects ol high order of merit. The dramas were first-rate, interest being sustained throughout eaeli production. “Unere the Money Went" was a magnificent Vitagrapii drama, featuring Miss Helen Gardiner (of ‘-Vanity Fair” fame;, and clearly snowed it went the rigat way. Other excellent dramas included “Angel of the Slums,” hy_ the Lubin (Jo., “Fate’s luterception, a stirring tale of love in the land ol Mexico, was a clever A.lf. production, and “Love and lours, ’ a beautiful poetic story by the popular Lubin Go. t'lio comical element was well represented by “Bachelor’s Waterloo,” an Edison leap-yea.r story, “Widow Jeak ns' Adnnr'ers,” a “Snakeville comedy by the great Essanay Co., Ihe Tenderfoot’s Troubles” (ivalem), and “Hot Stuff” (A. 8.), all of wfiich caused a great deal of laughter. The remaining pictures, such as “Miss Harriet Quirnby,” in her aeroplane lligut across the English Channel, “The Pitcfier Plant” (a nature study), and “Pups” (an animal study). Thursday’s change of programme will bring forth another line bill, included in which will be that patriotic and touching Irish, drama, “bhamus O’Briep,” produced by the Imperial Filins Co. This Him is all acted by full-blooded Irishmen, and the staging and costumes are perfect, Tim supporting pictures are all a good lot, and 'Thursday’s change will ue found co contain a strong all-round series of a most pleasing variety.

“SINBAD THE SAILOR.”

The annual pantomime season of the -JV'* VVilliamson' management is announced at the Town Hall on Saturday, September 23. The preliminary notice of this event will be gladly iiailed by all young people as well as many of their elders, who like to feel they are “funny people” once more for a merry hour or two. “Sinbad the Sailor” has had many dazzling predecessors, but by general acclaim the critics concede the palm to the latest achievement of tho firm, which also gams strength in attractiveness from 1 the merry team- of comedians, who are I said to break absolutely new ground | m their fun-making, “tj.nbad” is otlicially described as the “Enioy-evory-minute-of-it Extravaganza.” Tho cast includes several hnglish and Continental artists of repute, who arc new to Auckland audiences. Prominent amongst them are Mr. Pp Powell as Dame; Messrs. Drew and Andrews, i eccentric comedians from Drury Lane; Mr. 0. T. Lennon, the mysterious “Slccdcs” ; Miss Florence Jmeson ; Miss | Nell Finms; Mr. W. Hassan; Messrs. I Fred Winn, Chas. Howard; Misses ' Marie Eaton, Nance Maher, and a 1 long list of old favourites. Tho bailees i and other special features are sa:d to | be' rich in novelty and charm, particularly the graceful flying ballet invented by Mr. Leo. Kerby, in which the fairies Hy out over tho stalls, scattering roses among the audience. The box plan will lie opened at The Dresden on Wednesday, September i 25th.
