TWENTY-SECOND ANNrVERSARY TEA, AND SOCIAL.
lii'is pleasant Function took place last evening and wan a great success. St. Andrew's Hail being crowded to overflowing. The "'ball was prettily decorated, with holly and erysarithemums and tallies, loaded with dainties, placed round the hall, were much admired. Those were presided over by Messrs Stanton, Campbell, Thomson, Spence Mackay, and McGluggage, assisted by Misses Mackay, Stanton (2), E. Hrayshaw, Scott and Butcher. At the sacred concert which followed, the Rev. Roccveare, of New Plymoubb, occupied the chair, the Revs. D. McIvor (Waverley), Robertson (Elthain), B. Metson and A. Reader being also on the platform. Proceedings were opened by all joining in singing the "Old Hundredth," and then followed a highly successful concert, in which all the items rendered were well worth listening to. The programme included an orchestral item by Mr C. Pen it's orchestra; song, "The Bird with the Broken Wing," Miss E. Sangster; speech, Rev. D. Mclvor; song, "There is a Green Hill," Mr E. Sargent (Hawera); pianoforte solo, "Adeste Fidelia," Mrs McNeely; song, "Refuge of the Soul," Miga B. McNab (Auckland); speech, Rev. Robertson; recitation, "The Negro Baby's Funeral," Mr George Bond; song, "The Better Land," Miss Bell McNab; song, "Dream of Paradise," Mr B. Douglas'; speech. Rev. A. Reader; song, "A Perfect Day," Mr E. Sargent, and for a deserved encore he gave "Youth"; speech, Rev. B. Metson; song, "0 Divine Redeemer," Miss B. McNab. This latter young lady will be remembered as creating a very favourable impression at the Scottish Society's great gatlufriVg, arid Ifftf night' she fully sustained it. The accompanists 'were, Miss E. Boss Morison and Miss Rogers. Miss L. Rogers played a nicelv executed violin accompaniment) for" Miss McNab. At the close Mr W. D. Anderson proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to all who had helped to prepare for the evening's entertainment, or had contributed*'to tihe musical programme, which was carried by acclamation. The anniversary services of the church will be held next Sunday, the morning preacher being Rev. B. Metson and in the evening the Rev. A. Reader. Miss B. McNab will render a solo at the evening service.
