Macartney, not out 3(j \Y nitty, Carkeek, Haziitt and Minnett were omitted. Reeves replaced Parsons. The weather was warm, and tthfi wicket dry. Foster won the loss, and decided to bat. Smith and Kinneir opened lo MacLaren and Emery. In the latter's iirst over, Smith was bowled. Charlesworth and Kinneir made a good stand. bitty appeared in 35 minutes, and the century in SO minutes, the partnership adding 127. . CharJesworth was taken at third man. He made fifty in 90 minutes. He gave an admirable display. He hit a fours. He gave a chance at twenty-live. The score at luncheon was 2" for 143. Kinneir batted for 145 minutes. He gave chances at eleven in the slips lo Jennings, off MacLaren, and at l 9 to Emery, off his own bowling.
Foster" was taken in the slips. H( bowled 30 minutes. He hit ion: tourers.
The making of 200 occupied 175 min utes.
The attendance was 10,000. j,;mi'r naiad lor 25 minutes. When three he gave, a difficult chance off Emery. Quaife batted stylishly for a hundred minutes.
