Sydney, May 28. A rumour, supposed to he the work of a practical joker, that war between England aisd Germany had been declared caused great excitement and an outbreak of patriotic fervor at the German Club. it was ;i couple of hours before more reliable news cooled the demonstration. Suva, May 28. At the Lautoka Circuit Court three Indians were sentenced to death for the murder of the lighthouse-keeper at Monn. The accused wvve discharged employees. They tied down their victim, saturated him with kerosene and set fire to him. Another Indian received a similar sentence for the murder of his paramour.
