Prior to the surrender of the Rhodes garrison, numering IH'JO, the Italians landed two columns at night time, which co-operated with a third in surprising the Turks and driving them, after a sharp fight, into ravines. The only retreat therefrom was commanded by the guns of the warships. Eighty-three Turks were killed, and twenty-six wounded. Ameglis telegraphs that all the Turkish troops on cue ,'sland are prisoners. He adds that the officers nave been allowed to retain their swords, in recognition of their gallant conduct. The despatches evoked unbounded enthusiasm in both Chambers. THE DAP DANELLES RE-OPENED. Constantinople, May 18. The Dardanelles have been re-open-ed, after a daily loss of £15,000 sterling to British shipping.
