UNREST IN MEXICO.
A PRELIMINARY ENGAGEMENT REPORTED.
REBEL FORCES DEFEATED
Mexico City, May 11
A preliminary engagement resulted in General Orozco’s defeat. Orozco attributes his defeat to the superior artillery the Federals used. The losses are believed to bo heavy. The rebels, under General Salazer, Orozco’s lieutenant, reported that they were ambushed in a canyon and almost annihilated. One report states that a thousand were killed.
