THE BLACK PERIL.
THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOUTH AFRICA. IN ENQUIRY FAVOURED. Capetown, May 11. The Assembly debated Sir W. Smart's motion in favour of an enquiry into native assaults. It was stated that twenty firms engaged in illicit liquor selling wove largely responsible for the assaults. Mr Botha declared that the time was coming when they must seriously consider tho preventing of the intermingling of whites and natives. He promised to set up a commission to fully investigate the matter.
