LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
HAWERA VIEWS ON THE BILL. (P«r Prrns Association.) Hawera, May 12. At a meeting of representatives of local bodies within the Hawera-Patea hospital districts to-day, Mr. J. T Quuiri. chairman of the Eltham County Council, was elected delegate to represent the district at the conference in Wellington in connection with the Local Government Bill. A resolution was carried: That the local bodies of the Hawera-Patea districts strongly oppose the proposed Bill, as it appears before delegates. The meeting also resolved that it is in favour of the introduction of a well-considered Local Government Bill, somewhat on the lines recommended to the Government by the Municipal Counties' Conference and with a well-organised constitution.
