A special inquiry will bo held by the Auckland Hospital Hoard on Monday regarding the administrative and disciplinary methods of the lady superintendent, the complaint regarding her management by certificated nurses of the institution, and the protest of five sisters against their suspension over the “hath incident.*’ Ail these mattoys camo before the Board at its meeting to-night, but no definite action was taken, beyond referring them to the consideration of the inquiry. Specific criticisms of the matron were made to the Board by the honorary medical staff, and this report had been handed to Miss Griffiths for her reply. A large trawling launch owned by John Emlcan and Maurice O’Connor valued at £BOO was seized by the Fisheries Department in consequence of having aboard four bags of oysters the character of which denoted that they were taken from closed beds at Waiheke. The launch at the time was on a fishing excursion and twelve or thirteen persons were aboard. The master of the vessel denied knowledge' of any oysters being brought aboard. Ernest Collins, hairdresser, of Roxburgh met with a fatal accident on Tuesday evening. While ho was charging an acetylene generator an explosion took place, and he received injuries to his head, from tvhich he died last night. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. The communication of the Masonic Grand Lodge wqs concluded to-day. A scheme to enable a Provincial Grand Master to take with him an enlarged retinue of city officers when visiting country lodges was debated at considerable length, and eventually the solution of the problem was left to the Board of General Purposes. The question of providing regular incomes for widows and orphans and the aged Masons fund was referred to the Board of Benevolence. The report of the special committee of the Provincial Grand Masters on their conference in Wellington was adopted, with slight amendments. A Board of Grand Lodge Trustees, consisting of Bros. Ross, Clark, Mnller, Watts and Stnneham was set up for the period during which the executive is stationed in Dunedin. It was decided that the Board of General Purposes should consider the question of the disparity in the size of the present Masonic districts. The Grand Lodge will meet in Auckland next May. Palmerston, May 10. A motor car shed owned by A. Schlngar caught fire this morning and a car valued at £BOO was completely destroyed. It had just been renovated at a cost of £IOO and the owner was about to give it a trial. He started the engine and went inside tor a coat, hut when lie returned lie found the place in flames. It is thought that the benzine ignited from the carburetter. The ear was insured in the Dominion office for £SOO. Another small car in the shed was saved. i
