THE SUGAR COMMISSION.
(Received 9, 10.40 a.m.) Sydney, May 9,
Peacock, jam manufacturer, is publishing a statement handed to the Sugar Commission but which he was not allowed to read covering the position of manufacturers and fruit growers in regard to the industry. He claims that the solution of the whole sugar difficulty lies in the direction ol no port excise duties, white grown sugars, with a direct bonus paid to canegrowers. The result would be that, as in New Zealand, sugar could lie ■sold in Australia at world’s prices.
