Ta the Australians’ second innings an official correction of the scores makes Carkeek’s total 18, and the total of the innings 166. Riley’s average was 6 for 90. Wanting 213 to win, and with twelve runs on without loss, Jones and George Gunn fackl McLaren and Wliitty. The weather was hot and the wicket faster. The attendance was a thousand. With the* score at 29, Hazlitt relieved Whitty, and at 46 Minnett displaced McLaren. The batting was excellent, though the score was composed chiefly of singles. McLaren was no-balled three times for dragging over. Jones had made some fine cuts, while Gunn’s score was mainly made by singles. The half century was hoisted in 50 minutes.
