(Per Press Association.) Gishorne, May 6. A'fire last "evening damaged a portion of the premises of B. Lewis draper, the brigade made a good save. . Thomas Farrell, aged 40, a laborer at Muriwai, died suddenly yesterday, while carrying a bucket of water. James Graham a settler at Puha, who was found unconscious on Cliff road on Saturday evening dies yesterday of haemorrhage. Wellington, May 6. While returning from a fire to-day the fire brigades big motor car came to grief. The car was trying to negotiate a street •corner, when the tyre of the front wheels came off. The car became unmanageable and crashed into a tramway pole. One fireman, of eight on the car, had his collarbone broken, through being thrown against the chemical engine on top of the motor. The others were thrown off.and bruised. The car was considerably damaged.
