STRATFORD SKATING RINK.
The first fancy dress carnival in connection with the above eventuates at ho Town Hall on Thursday evening text, and) judging by the attendances luring the past week, a highly successul function should be the result. Sat-
unlay evening saw the floor thronged with those facinated to the glide-away motion, and most of our prominent skaters were present. The management intend doing their utmost "to provide for 1 the enjoyment of their patrons, and no expense is being sparjd to make their first carnival a huge success. The prizes to be .donated the
fancy costumes, etc., are both unique xml valuable. For the most original gentleman’s costume a valuable shrtvng outfit is being given ; best dresseu ody, a very superior and fashionable
mnd bag' the most graceful lady ikator a silver-mounted purse, an :o the most graceful couple, lady ana rontleman, a silver backed hand mm 'or, and military brushes, In the halfrale championship, for gentlemen, a •aluablo safety razor will surely please
the first past the post. The judging will be in the hands of leading townspeople, and should give entire satisfaction. An efficient orchestra is being engaged. For those who have not yet taken to the wheels, we are assured that on personal application to the management, their thorough tuition, without even as much as a fall, is guaranteed, during the next week. Private lessons may also be arranged for. HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. There was a splendid oouse at Bernard’s on Saturday evening, when the current programme was repeated with much success. To-night che comph+e change of programme includes a dramatic pictorial repies jntati m of “Enoch Arden”—Tennyson's famous poem. The poem is one which should lend itself admirably to the arts of the cinematograph, and the drama, judging from public opinion expressed in other places, where the picture has been screened, is a remarkably good one. The story is one of vital human interest, and when told by the cinematograph, should be as patlntic as when, years ago, it was told to immense and enthusiastic audiences by Saazelle, one of the finest entertainers of his day. The other pictures, are also above standard, so there should not he many vacant seats for tonight’s performance.
