DANCE AT NGAERE.
(From our own Correspondent.)
The dance at Ngairc last night given by the bachelors by way of a return to the ladies proved to he one of the most enjoyable and successful ever held in the local hall. The beautiful night enabled visitors from Stratford and other places to be present, and altogether between fifty and sixty couples rolled up. The floor was in excellent order for dancing and the music, supplied by the Ngaire Orchestra, was first rate, the musicians keeping a good time throughout the evening. An appetising -supper was provided and was done ample justice to. ,A word of praise is due to the efficiency of the M.C.’s, Messrs Scott and G.' Coleman, jun., who were indefatigable in their efforts to see that no one had to sit out the dances. The assembly broke up about 2 a.m., those present expressing themselves as well satisfied with the evening’s entertainment.
The Ngaire Hall will probably ’ Tie the scene of many such enjoyable gatherings this winter, as it is reported that an exceedingly strong committee of ladies and gentlemen has been formed with the object of conducting a series of progressive euchre parties in conjunction with dances. These should be welcomed by the youthful members of the conimunity and give them something to look forward to during the long evenings of the “off season.”
