THE TERRITORIALS.
MOUNTED RIFLES CAMP. The first annual camp of the line! (Wellington-West Coast) Mounted Rifles) will be held on the Waverley Racecourse from 16th to 23rd May. The Wangamii men will proceed by road and will reach camp not later than 2.30 p.m. on May 16th. The Waimarino men will arrive by rail. B squadron will go by road and arrive at 11 a.m. 0, MG, and D Squadrons will go by train! Staff officers and N.C.O.'s will proceed with the respective squadrons to which they are attached. In all cases "here men have to ride long distances to squadron headquarters or place of entrainment 0.0. squadrons will make arrangements for quartering and rationing men and horses, an allowance being made for this purpose. The baggage of all squadrons will be forwarded by-rail. All N.C.O.'s and men, in addition to the uniforms issued ,will take the following articles: Blankets, change of shirt, underclothing', socks, pair of old trousers for stable or fatigue work, hair brush, shaving tackle, towel and soap, stout pair of boots and spurs; knife, fork, spoon, two plates and a pint enamel mug. ■ The horse kit must contain: Good sound horse cover plainly branded with the regiment number and rank and name of the owner, dandy and body brushes, curry and mane,combs, towel and hoof pick, cleaning gear for arms and accoutrements, 'saddlery and boots. Nosebags can be obtained in camp. Men are requested to practice feeding their horseslimnosebags before going to camp. Following is an extract from the Regimental Orders regarding the camp: "O.C. squadrons must impress upon all ranks the urgent necessity of taking the greatest care of all camp or any equipment: en issue to them. All loss or-damage must be made good, and will, 'if [ necessary, be deducted from the pay ■of -those causing it. The care of equipment, whethere it is Government, Regimental or Squadron property, is part of the Territorial training and all .yanks should be made to fully appreciate their responsibility on this subject." Advance parties, consisting 0 f volunteers, of not more than eight per squadron and four from the M.G. section must report at camp at noon on May loth. A senior N.C.O. is to.be placed in charge of every carriage cu troop trains to preserve discipline and to note any damage done, which will be charged to those causing it. All camp clothing must be packed in kit bags, and no other boxes or other packages will be allowed. The kit bags are to be numbered in the same manner as the equipment. On arrival in camp a hot meal will bo available.
