HUIAKAMA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) It speaks well for the good feeling that has existed when settlers turn out as they did on Saturday 27th inst., to a social in the Huiakama School. The settlers having taken the opportunity of presenting Miss D. Hobby (lady assistant at tne 'uhool) with a gold watch in appreciation of her efforts, especially in Works outside of her official dut.es in connection with the school children. Considering that it was only on Friday morning that it was officially notified that a change was in the air, the response was spontaneous, every one assisting to their utmost. After an interval for refreshments, in a neat speech Mr. Mclllhom presented Miss Hobby with the watch, and wished her every success in her new sphere, stating that she .had the best wishes of all the settlers and that she had not one enemy in the district. Miss Hobby feelingly replied, dancingi then being resumed till nearly mid-J night. _____________^.
