DENBIGH ROAD NOTES.

The meeting of householders to elect ,a now school committee took place on the 22nd, when thirteen householders met in the schoclhouse. The usual business was gone through, and the new committee elected. The chairman for the evening, Mr W. Mills, read the reports, balancesheets, etc., and dwelt with very considerable length on the superior qualities of a former teacher, Miss Olousen, during whose time, he stated, better work had been done in the school than had been the case for the past ten years. The dance under the auspices of the Denbigh Rond Athletic Club cnme oil on Friday, the 22nd, and was well attended. Mr Andersen proved a most efficient master of ceremonies, and excellent music was supplied by Miss R. Andersen. Had the weather been fine a greater number would have turned up. A match between the upper and lower end of the road card players, on the 20ch, resulted in a win for the latter.

A very serious accident happened to the little .daughter of Mr and Mrs Dombroski recently. Whilst the elders were engaged in the milking shed the little one’s clothes caught alight, with the result that the child was most severely burned.

The weather is rather stormy here at present, with the’ result that the cows are going dry. Stone breaking on the road is going on apace, and when the extra penny in the £ rate strum: and the Council’s subsid’y are spent on it, wo hope to have a decent road. The bachelors on the road are holding a dance in The Oddfellows’ Hall, Midhirst, next, week.
