ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

ANNUAL REPORT. Following is the report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Stratford Acclimatisation Society : Stratford Acclimatisation Society's Report and Balance-sheet for the year ending 31st March, :912:— Gentlemen,— AVe have the honour to submit cur annual report and balance-sheet. Tho financial position is somewhat similar to last year'. During the year rjour committee imported and released H) brace of pheasants and other game these are very hard to feed during the shooting season, and with the cost of pens and feed, were an expensive item. The pheasants were liberated m various parts of the country, and the reports to hand show that they have thrived and bred well. Birds are very numerous in the back country, and ive anticipated a real goed season. The fishing licenses about balanced the expenditure, but it is a question for s’enous consideration of the Society as to the restocking of the rivers, the season was a fairly good one tor n.>nermen. AVe intend procuring some 50,000 Lock Leven eyed ova this year, either from Otago or Canterbury SoClGtlO 8. In conclusion, wo beg to extend our hearty thanks to'Mr. A. AV. Budge for his kindness in finding room and taking care of tho pheasants lor over three months. , During tho year the various laranaki• Societies met in Stratford, and some useful discussions took place. The next meeting will be held in Hawera about Juno. AVo also wish to thank all tnese members who so kindly gave theii seiviccs during the year. On behalf of the Conned, AVe are, gentlemen, Yours obediently, AV. P. KIRKWOOD, President. 0. D. SOLE, Secretary.
