SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
o s STANLEY ROAD. Tho following were elected members of tho Stanley Road School Committee for the coming year:- —Messrs. P. Wellington, R. Guppy, 1. Wheller, H. Hoskin, J. Jago, G. Keighley, J. Johnson (re-elected chairman). KAPONGA. At the annual meeting of householders'' at Kaponga the preseit members of the School Committee were reelected—namely, Messrs. W. Swadling (chairman), J. B. Bennie'(secretary), C. Farley, A. E. King, G. Death, S. Signal, and E. Mill. ACKLAND. Mr. Frank Mackay presided over a large attendance of houseliolders. There were ten nominations, and the following were elected :—Messrs. F. Mackay (chairman), M. Knox (secretary), G. H. Witte, J. Oldridgo, and Lumsden. The school, which was built for eighteen scholars, now has to accommodate twenty-three, and needs enlarging. POHOKURA. Only three householders attended, and no committee was elected. - HUIROA. Messrs. Wra. Phillips (chairman), W. J. Bray (secretary and treasurer), Ji. Main, A. Bland, J. H. Taylor, Win, Wallace, and H. B. Kidd were elected. NGAERE. Forty-two householders attain ted, and the following committee was elected unopposed:—Messrs. Jones (chairman), W. Wickham, S. Whittam, Hilliard, Kenyon, H. Pennington (secretary), and Mrs. Truelove. ROWAN. Messrs. Geo. E. Thorburn (chairman), 'Alec. Baird, Justin F. McCarthy, Chas. Waite, and David BlackJack (secretary and treasurer) were elected. T ARIEL Ten householders attended at annual meeting on the 22nd inst. The, Chairman (Mr. J. ■ Tlierkleson), in a comprehensive report of ‘the proceedings during the past year, showed that the committee had worked to the best advantage in the interest of the school and grounds. A great improvement had been effected in the playground. A very successful school concert had been held, and the proceeds devoted to prizes and to partly repay the headmaster for his personal expenditure in procuring instruments, etc., for science work. A working bee had partly trimmed the trees round the grounds, which, however, required flushing. The inspector’s report of ■school work and the rendition of the grounds and premises had been satisfactory.' Mr. Stratford moved a vote of thanks to the outgoing committee, saying that he considered they deserved the thanks of the public for the efficient way in which they had carried out their duties. Mr. J. Tlierkleson was. voted to the chair,' and nonrnatioits for the new committee were called for. Messrs. Tlierkleson, Contis, and' Blanchard were nominated, but as no other householder present would consent to stand, for the first time for many years a committee was not elected. The Chairman drew tho tention.of the meeting to the unfinished state of the tree trimming, and it was agreed to hold a public working hoe to complete it on Tuesday, Aprl 30th. most of those present promising to attend.
