AMUSEMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. Thursday’s fine, programme as described in a recent issue was again produced yesterday evening, and will be screened again to-day, both at the matinee and the evening performance. There will be an entire change of programme on Monday evening, when “The Bells” will be put on. This weird drama is considered by some authorities to have been Sir Henry Irving’s masterpiece. The drama is taken from Erekmann Chatrain’s weird story. The well-known elocutionist, Mr Alfred Boothman, will explain the pictures. There are some startling and realistic mechanical effects introduced in this drama, which will be appreciated by the picture play-goer. The other items are very good, and are fully equal to the high standard of pictures produced at His Majesty’s Theatre. TOWN HALL RINK. Skating at the Town Hall is going very well indeed. Those who were novices at the beginning of the season are now acquiring skill, and making a verv creditable show. There are some very fine skaters among the habitues of this rink. The management is now endeavouring to arrange hockey matches with the other rinks of the district, which, if successfully arranged, should prove very attractive to the public. Musical chairs will soon be introduced at this rink, and a carnival is being arranged to take place very shortly. No charge is made to onlookers at this rink.
