SPORTS AT THE CAMP. 1 The following is the programme of the sports meeting which will he lie 1 d on April 24th at the camp of the 11th Regimen,!-on the Hawera racecourse: 1. Battalion race, 100yds. 2. Eyla^ - ’ race, one round of the course., , 3. Battalion race, one mile. 4. Mixed boot race. 5. Sack race. 6. Battalion race, a quarter of a mile. 7. Obstacle race. 8. Tilting the bucket. 9. Officers’ race, 120yds, compulsory. 10. Pap and bun race. 11. iPllow fighting on the spar. 12. Battalion race, half mile. 13. Physical drill competition, one N.C.O. and twenty men constitutes a team. 14. Squad drill, team as above. 15. Rifle exercises competition, team as before. 10. Tug-of-war, teams of eight w : th skipper. The above is an excellent programme and should excite keen interest both in the competitors and spectators. Event Xo. 9, officers’ compulsory should excite a good deal of intore t. It is to be hoped that General Godley will put in an appearance and thus treat the spectators to a view of his compulsory sprint.
