TWO. BETTING MEN IN THE POLICE COURT. (For Press Association.) Blenheim, April 11. E. J. Walsh, grocer, and J. V. Binley, telegraphist, were before the court to-day charged with conspiracy to defraud Ross and Bradshaw and Scott and Martindale of sums of £3-; and £SO 'los, on certain betting trans actions. It is alleged that Binley ar ranged with Walsh to go to Wanganui races, leaving signed telegrams to th< firms mentioned containing the 1 name; of horses likely to win at Wanganui. the telegrams to be handed in prior t< the time of the race. Walsh telegraphed the winners to an address ir Blenheim, and Binley watched tin Wanganui wires and held bade tele grams to the firms, erased tlio hordes' names, and substituted the winning horse. The firms became suspicious and made inquiries. A prosecutio:, resulted.
