-A search party for Stann>y James Beattie, lost in the bush at Manakau, went from Levin yesterday but failed to find him. They discovered the gun and dog belonging to Beattie and later on discovered tiis camp but found no trace of Beattie or Ins horse. Search. parties from Otaki and Manakau are out again to-day. Before the conference of tne Labour Party concluded to-day it was announced that Mr A. W. Hogg had joined the 'Alasterton branch of the Tarty and signed the old pledge. High appreciation was expressed of the services of the Hon. Paul (president of the Unity Conference), Mr Sullivan (secretary), and Professor Mills (organiser). It was remarked that one effect of the unity conference was that Messrs Veitch, liobertson and Hindmarsh are now members of the United Labour Party. Wellington, April 12. A chorus of approval greeted the motion at the New Zealand Labour Parly Conference to-day adopting the unity constitution. A number of congratulatory speeches were made, in which optimistic references were expressed as to the future of the united Labour movement. The motion was then carried unanimously amidst applause.
