AMUSEMENTS.

BIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. There was a crowded house last night to view, .the attractions offered to the public at His Majesty's Theatre. The first part of the programme consisted of a well-chosen and varied set of pictures, including the star film called the "Special Messenger," depicting stirring scenes of the American Civil War. The pictures came out on the screen clearly, all details being well defined; The new direct current machine employed, proved its superiority over the alternating method. The second part of the programme commenced with the great two-reel star film "She." Doubtless most readers have read Rider Haggard's famous novel "She." The opening commences in Egypt previous to the Christian era, and depicts the elopement of Kallikrates, a priest of Isis, with Amenartas, a daughter of Pharoah. The couple, flee through the desert from the wrath of Isis. The film depicting the approach of the fated couple to "She's" country by water, and showing the famous Negro headland is a very fine one, as is also the one where "She" unveils herself, and offers Kallikrates eternal youth if\he will desert Amenartas for herself, and slays him when ho overcomes the temptation and turns to Amenartas. The selection of special films for notice, however, is invidious, and the are all excellent, startling effects being produced in some of them, especially in the final one recording the tragic end of She. Those who have not viewed this very fine picture drama should certainly do so to-night, as there will be a fresh programme for to-morrow's matinee.
