SWIMMING NOTES.
(By Amphi Bios.)
At last the completion of the abovesignod's job appears in sight. The "Post" came to A.B. and said: "You know all about swimming: describe for us the contests for the Handicap Cup, and you will be five pounds the richer." A ItmatlC would have said: ".No. A.B. said: "Yes." The absolutely last race for the Gup occurred on Monday. The starters were Jebb and Kelly, each of whom had eight points, the winner of the Cup having scored ten. The distance swum was 75yds, and Jebb had eight seconds' start. He got going at the word "Go," and kept going nicely until the finish. Kelly paddled in about four seconds behind the winner.
Mr. E. B. Stohr was present to see fair play. Jebb got over tlie distance in lmui 13see, and Kelly in lmin 9scc. • The weather conditions were ideal. It was so wet in the open air that one was not frightened of getting wet —before the race both champions were as wet as they were at the end. Further, it was so cold on the bank that one was glad to get into the bath to get oitt of the cold. What better conditions could be hoped for? So soon as A.B. has written a short history of the races for the Cup, his work will be ended. Ho will pocket the .£5 given by the "Post," and will become once again a private citizen, leaving the job of writing to the papers to those who like it. And many there are.
