There is a proposition to settle the ’strike by arbitration. Mutton.—The market is firm with more demand. Lightweight Canterbury is’ not quoted but the average price (nominally) is 4|d. North Isliiud to 4gd. Lamb.—The market is firm with good demand, for all lamb. Canterbury oijd, other than Canterbury s|d. ; Beef.—The market is firm, with limited supply. N.Z. hinds 4-Jd, N.Z. fores 3£d. Butter.—The market is slightly weaker with less demand. Buyers are cautious. The weather continues favourable for home production. The average price for the week for choicest N.Z. butter was 1255, Danish 1325, Australian 121 s, Argentine 121 s, Siberian 1235. Cheese.—The market is quiet with prices slightly weaker. The average price for the week- for finest N.’Z. cheese was 745. Hemp.—-The market is about the same. Spot: N.Z. good fair £2l 10s, N.Z. fair grade £2O, fair current Manilla £2l 10s; forward shipment: N;Z. good fair £2l 15s, N.Z. fair grade £2O os, fair current Manila £2l 15s. The output from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales. Wheat.—The market is quiet and firm.
Oats.—The market is firm with improved demand.
Cocksfoot Seed.—The market is quiet and buyers are not keen to do business in cocksfoot seed.
