MARCH RAINFALL.
The rainfall for March, as recorded hy Mr. T. H. Penn, is as follows: Bain fell on nineteen days of the month,' with a maximum of 1.89 on the 2nd, the next heaviest fall being on the 15th. The total fall was 5.92 inches. From the 4th to the 16th inclusive the rain fell on every day.
At Patea rain fell on eighteen days, the total fall being 5.03 .inches. For the fall on the 2nd, Patea so far tops the poll with 2.06i:n. The figures for Inglewood, kindly supplied by Miss N. Trimble, give evidence of a damp fortnight and a dry fortnight. There was recordable rain on only fifitoen days, but during the wet fortnight the clouds worked overtime, the total fall recorded being 7.84 m. When it is stated that on the Ist 1.64 in. fell, on the 2nd 1.96 in., on the 7th .59in., on the 12th .Slim, and on the 14th 1.33 in., tne total is easy of belief. Bain was practically continuous from the Ist to the 15th. no rain being recorded, however, on the,3rd and the ll'th. From-the 16th to the end of the month there .was no real rain, the only records taken being a Scotch mist of Bin. on the 26th, and a light dew of .06in. on the 2/ th.
