Visitors should remember that there is payable a toll of one shilling, which becomes due when the National Park is entered. This goes towards the fund for providing accommodation and supplying access, and should not be grudged by those using the reserve. Further, if, as frequently happens, visitors go up without money, the onus of making good the toll falls on caretaker. A PUBLIC BENEFACTOR. Some gentleman with an exalted idea of civic duty has broken in two the- notice on the lower gate "Keep This Gate Shut." The matter is mentioned merely to place on record the gentleman's kind action. THE SUMMIT REACHED. Two of yesterday's visitors reached the top of the Mountain. _ They were compelled to make the journey at a moderate pace, owing to fog. which, however, cleared very much whe: the top was reached, enabling the climbers to catch some good views towards the sea and excellent studies in the clouds below them. STATE OF THE TRACK. The condition of the track is always ■a"*%h~rce of interest. The drier weather of late has had the effect of hardening up the going, and now there are just a few spots somewhat deeply rutted and others which arc; on the soft side. The grading of the top section is proceeding apace, and the going here is as good as could he desired. Generally, with 'Jk ordinary care the drive up presents no difficulties. THE NEW BUILDING. The new rooms are now completed and ready for occupation. The din-ing-room is light and airy, and the bedroom 3 leave nothing to be desired. The building is match-lined throughout and should prove highly comfortable.
