A youth named Ratkewitsch, a magistrate’s son, and who is an extraordinary degenerate, has been sentenced to eight years’ hard labour for strangling and stabbing a young girl. Thirty-five wounds were found in the bedy cf the girl. Ratkewitscn, in a diary, showed that ho sought to analyse his own feelings while mutilating his victim, whom Jio°selected at random.

The fact that prisoner was. a minor mitigated the sentence.
