THE SANDBAGGING CASE.

The most recent outrage in Auckland —the sandbagging of a medical man

—is calculated to make dwellers i i the northern city feel uneasy. Even in the slums of London and other great cities the doctor is almost looked upon as sacred, and he freely move; amongst the most abandoned on h:r errands of humanity. In Auckland the doctor appears to have been deliberately enticed from his house and brutally set upon by a cool assailant who had long premeditated tiio attack. There have been altogether too many acts of violence on the highways of Auckland recently, and the authorities, so far, do not seem to gel on the tracks of offenders.
