A SUCCESSFUL STRATFORD INSTITUTION.

The thirteenth annual meeting, of shareholders in the Stratford Co-op-erative Building Society is called for Monday evening, the Ist proximo, at 8 p.'in., at the office of the secretary (Mr Alfred Coleman). We have received from Mr Coleman the bal-ance-sheet of the society for the past twelve months, which 'discloses a position, that must, be most satisfactory to the shareholders. The subscriptions and redemptions received, £2336, show an advance of £599 upon tiiose of the previous year, whilst the amount of loans, granted exceed those of last year by £2075. The loans made constitute a record in the history of this flourishing institution, and the Directors are able to report that no losses of any kind have been made on the society’s investments. The total loans to date to shareholders now exceed £20,000, and it will therefore be seen that the society has played no unimportant part in the development of the town by Tending such an amount to its shareholders, free of interest, for building and improvement purposes. The Directors have well considered the interests of the shareholders, as is shown hy the fact: that whilst the financial turnover has greatly increased the management expenses have 1 'actually decreased. Besides . receiving advances : free of interest, 'the!; shareholders , Ikive Trad the 'year's xdear profits, £125 TGs, Bd,, credited to tlidni-.' increasing tire accrued .undivided profits'; per j share ■from £8 5s to;£9.9s jdf ah in’ereasp of 24s Id for the year. "The ‘management of the Stratford , Co-operative Building Society certainly deserves great credit; for the splendid results of the year’s financial transactions, and the continued success of tno society is a bright augury of its fuu.ro.
