TWO GREAT DISASTERS.
IN CONNECTION WITH AMERICAN MINING. EIGHTY MEN ENTOMBED. (Received 21, 11.45 a.m.) New York, March 20. An underground gas explosion wrecked twenty dwellings in the Dunmore mining district. Two families were blown to pieces or burned‘ to death. Several houses were completely destroyed by lire. Seven women and two” children are known to be dead. Earth settlings within the mines are believed to have caused the explosion. Reports from Fort Smith, Arkansas, state that it has been telephoned there that a great disaster has occurred at the San Bois Coal Company’s mine at McCurtain, Oklahoma. A gas explosion occurred, entombing eighty men, all of whom are believed to be dead.
