TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES. Newton King’s Report. On Tuesday, 12th instant, I held my usual four weekly sale of above •produce, the catalogue comprising 8< hales and 847 sacks wool, 3172 sheepskins, 20 casks and G2 tins tallow, 989 hides, 904 calfskins, and the usualassortment of hair, tails, etc. Wool. —Mostly straggler and late shorn lots coming forward, the wool generally being dingy and very coarse. Prices in sympathy with those ruling in other centres were Id lower with late values. Sheepskins.—ln sympathy with wool declined id under excellent coo petition. Tallow. —Advanced £1 os per ton. Hides.—These met with very keen and spirited competition, prices showing a substantial rise all round. Heavy and medium ox advanced ltd, lights being at par. Heavy cow were Id, medium fd, and lights Id higher. One line of cow realised BJd per lb, a ioenrd for the Dominion. Calfskins.—Small offering with prices at par. Cowtails.—ls Gd per dozen. Owing to my next sale clashing with Easter holidays, the buyers thereby being unable to attend, and also to the fact that the Railway Department will not carry goods on the Friday and Monday at Easter, I have decided to delete my April 9th sale. My next sale will he hold on May 7th. Clients are kindly requested not to hold back consignments they may have but to forward them on at any time when they will receive every attention and caro. Congestion at the time of sale will thus, to a certain extent, he avoided. Newton King’s Weekly Report. At my Urenui supplementary sheep fair on Friday, Bth, every yard was lull, quite 10,000 being penned. Bidding at the start was very dull, there being practically no demand for 2tooth ewes or old sheep. As the sale progressed things (brightened up considerably, and good ewes, wethers, and lambs sold freely, most linos being quitted either at the hammer or privately. At Raliotu on Tuesday I laid ;i good yarding of cattle and a good attendance. I 1 1 acl a good number of weanors penned but there was little demand and most lines went home. Prices realised were: Jersey heifer weanors £1 os to 1 10s, mixed wcaners 18s to £ 13s, 10-month steers £2 1-1 s, 18-month ‘heifers £3 os, bulls £2 os to it !, store cows £2 -Is to £3 <s, forward cows £3 11s to £l, fat coins (good) £o Os, 2-year Holstein heifer £4 17 s.
