CHURCH’S ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (Per Press Association.! Auckland, March (5. An organised spiritual campaign has been formulated for next year by the Methodist Church in New Zealand to celebrate the entrance of the church upon its independence from Australia and the consummation of • Methodist union in the Dominion. The conference to-day confirmed arrangements for the campaign by the Rev. Wallace Cook and Mrs Cook, and proposals for missidns by two suitable missioiners from Australia supplemented by a scheme for holding missions in every circuit and home mission station. Ait the .Methodist Conference, it was resolved to set up a “Welfare of the Church Committee” to collect information as to the spiritual state of the church, the difficulties with which it is confronted at the present day, and the most effective inodes of meeting them. The report of the Foreign Missions stated that work had steadily progressed during- the year. The financial returns showed another record, the amount raised being £3203, an increase of £350 on the previous year. Auckland, March 1. The Methodist Conference ic-eived the. report of the Foreign Mission Committee, which expressed cordial approval of the progressive policy outdined by the Board, including the appointment of five additional missionaries and eight missionary sisters to various positions in the field.
