Donaldson is to have an opportunity of proving the statement that the agreement he and Pestle were' asked to sign to run in Dunedin was anything but a sporting one. The Otago Caledonian Society, together with the New Zealand Athletic Union, has decided to institute proceedings against both runners for breach of agreement. THE PLUNKET SHIELD. The Wellington Cricket Association decided to suggest to the New Zealand Cricket Council that the Plunket Shield should ho awarded in tire same manner as the Sheffield Shield in Australia. All Associations/should play not loss than one home and one out match! every season and the team securing the most points should obtain the shield. Three points should be allotted for an ontri ght win, two for a first innings win, and one for a default or draw. Three points should be deducted for an outright loss and two for a first innings loss. In the event of points being equal the shield should go to the team averaging most runs per wicket.
