HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary 'mooting; of the Stratford Hospital and Cnaritablo 'Aid Board was Held -th.o morning. Jaere were present :—The Chairman (Mr. E. Marfell), and Messrs J. McAllister, W. W. Rogers, and J. Christoffel. Ccrrespondsnoo. Nurse Maclean conveyed her thanks y io the Board for their appreciation of j' her services during the .Matron’s absence.
Sanitary Inspector's Report. The Sanitary Inspector (Mr. A. Gray) renort'ecl that one case of puerperal fever had been notified in the Stratford borough. The patient bad recovered and tne premises Had been disinfected. One case of scarlet lever was also notified the patient having been removed to the jlawera Hospital. Nuisances in connection w.-th a local Giiinaman’s and a local butcher’s shops had been abated by ccnnections.to the drainage systean. A new trough had been provided for washing nsh at a fish snop, but 110tiiing had yet been done re concreting the yard. Acting under instructions from the District. Healtlt Office", a report was made to Jiim ro water supply and sewerage. Loaves were purenased from two bakers, who were warned by. the. District Health Officer for selling short-weight bread, and weighed. In both cage's the. bread was full weight.. Four butchers’ shops were inspected anti found to be in good order. A special report to the District Healtli Officer (Hr. Chesson) with reference to stables at the rear ot On Kee’s premise's, which nad previously been reported- as a ruinous building, stated that the owner asked permission to remove the decayed weather-boards and then cover with corrugated iron. / Medical Superintendent’s Report. !|> Dr Steven reported that at the beginning of February there were six patients in the Hospital. During tne month eleven were admitted and one died. Five operations were performed under anaesthetics. ■ Gardener's Report.
Tho gardener reported that everjrthing was going on all right. The lawns were in good order and vegetables were plentiful. Mr McAllister pointed out that a sum of £5 or so would be required to porperly. equip' the tennis o-urt. He thought the old committee .hould be •'edmended for the enterprise they displayed in erecting the court. - Ho moved' that the money required be voted. 'Mr Christoffel asked how many of .the staff there would be to use the courts. ’’ They_would have to get the general public in to use the court. ' Mr McAllister replied that the public already' supported three clubs.
