.1 THE ANNUAL SCHOOL PICNIC. At the annual picnic under the aiiE- • pices of the Ackland Road School on Thursday last the various athletic events resulted as follows: Young Men’s Race: Cameron 1, Slater 2. ' Married Ladies’ Race: Mrs. Williamshurst 1, Mrs. Bottin 2, Mrs. G. Harris 3. Single Ladies Race.—Miss Booker 1, Miss Mace 2. Hop, Step, and Jump: Cameron 1, Slater 2. Stepping the Chain: R. Guppy 1, Bowler 2. _ , Ladies’ Nail-driving: Abs. Bottin' and Mrs. AI. Knox, equal, 1. Men’s Nail-driving: L. Marchant 1, G. Harris 2. Guessing Sheep: R. Guppy and F. Grosinski, equal, guesied the exact weight. After a numbei of childrun's races were got off, Mr. F. Mackay, chairman of the School Committee, in a few well-chosen words, thanked all present for their .latrooage, and also those who made generous donations towards the prize hind. He then distributed prizes to the enildren, as follows :
Standard Vl.—Gladys Booker aid George Knox. Standard IV. —Pearl Witt and Ivy Witt.
Standard ll.—-Isabel Knox, Ada Lumsden, and Victor Derby Standard I.—lvy Hooker, Bessie Smith, Elma Derby, Augusta Derby, Myrtle Witt, and Ivan Smith. Prim,, ll.—Eleanor Knox, Lizzie Knox, Rose Oldridge, Gertrude Lumsden, John Knox, Willie Mackay, Douglas Mackay, James Spencer, and Arthur Harvey. Prim. I—Alalcolm Knox, Leslie Oldridge, and. John Harris. Attendance.—lsabel Knox, Lizzie Knox, and John Knox.
Diligence.—Willie Mackay, Isabel Knox, and Eleanor Knox. Sewing.—Gladys Booker and Isabel Knox.
