STEAMER OVERDUE.
the himitangi well found and equipped. OTHER LONG TRIPS RECALLED. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, February 28. Regarding the overdue Himitangi, shipmasters who have been in the Chatham islands trade recall quite a number of long trips made by various steamers. The Toroa was once away for a whole month, and the Kahn, also owned by Messrs. Richardson and Co., of Napier, made a longer stay at the Chathams, bad weather keeping her away from Lyttelton for over a month. Both vessels came through a severe storm without accident. The Ripple was once twenty days away. The Himitangi is regarded as a line sea boat, well equipped, and in charge of competent officers. Mr. H. O. Foster (son of Mr. W. G. Foster, of WelHngton), who left Lyttelton in the Himitangi, is an officer in the service of the P. and 0. Company, on leave of absence, .and is making the round trip in that vessel. Mr. John McLean, of Wellington, who also went away in the Himitangi, was born in Wellington, and lias made quite a number of trips to the Chathams, the first one being in the Duco.
