Mr. W. Simm'j manager of Blythe’s, Napier, has been appointed manager of the D..EC., Wellington, to succeed Mr. A. A. Corigan.—Press Association . The Public Works Department staff were too strong for the Pohokura^ Cricket Chib, and defeated them on Saturday by live wickets and .a few odd runs. The Stratford Fire Brigade has accepted a challenge from the Eltham Brigade to compete in three events, which will be run off at Eltham on March 28th. It is hoped to make the competition an annual one for a shield. The Government Commission appointed to investigate the grass grub, visited Masterton last week, and inspected several properties. Two drovers and a bull had a merry time in Fenton Street this afternoon. The animal refused pioint blank to enter the railway yard, but on getting loose seemed disposed to enter anybody elsc’s yards—even • backyards. The horsemen made valiant endeavours to yard the beast, but as torroadors were lamentably lacking in skill. Time after time, they would bring the animal to a standstill, only to have it slip to one side and continue its mad course down Fenton Street. At Swansea Road they turned the bull and began an equally exciting course back to the yards. Nearing the school exciting incidents were thick, and onlookers bad all the pleasures of witnessing a real Spanish bull light.
