ANNEXATION ESSENTIAL TO POLITICAL BALANCE. ITALY CLAIMS SOVEREIGNTY. Rome, February 23. A Bill was introduced into the Chamber ratifying the sovereignty over Tripoli and Cyrenaica, amid deafening cheersi The preamble declares that annexation is essential to the equilibrium of political influences in the Mediterranean.
ILLEGAL RECRUITING. Cairo, February 23. On the ground that Egypt lias not renounced its rights to Eritrea, the Egyptian Government has remonstrated with Italy for recruiting troops in Eritrea for Tripoli. Italy’s action has evoked violent protests iu the native press.
