A charge of forty thousand pounds of, black powder and twelve hundred pounds of dynamite were used in the Sandstone Company’s quarry at Tenino, Washington State. It dislodged a million tons of stone, believed to be the largest amount of commercially uneable stone ever dislodged by a charge. At the aviation meeting at Oakland four competitors were caught in sudden gusts and driven 'to the earth. Their' machines were partially wrecked and all were badly shaken. A fifth, Hoff, fell from a considerable height and was seriously injured. In connection with the recent dynamite investigations at Indianapolis ft appears that the Government used a secret phonographic device concealed in a desk in a roo'm where suspected trade union officials who were arrested conferred. Stenographers hidden in the room beneath, made a note of the conversation. It is believed that important evidence warthus secured against accused. Berlin, February 18.
