(Per Press Association.) i i Auckland, February 19. i Rumours that have been current m connection with the attitude or Miv Payne, M.P. for Grey Lynn, to a noconfidence motion in the Ward Government, were responsible for a meeting to-night. Only the electors of. Grey Lynn who had supported Mi.: Payne were invited by advertisement, | hut many others from other constituencies attended, including several well known opponents of the Reform 1 arty. The only motion proposed was as follows‘,‘Tiiat this meeting of supporters of, Mr. Payne in Grey Lynn, in view of the opposition shown recently by the Reform Party and its press' to organised labour, more particularly in Auckland and Wellington, calls upon their representative to vote against the Reform Party on the no-confidence motion now before flic House.” The motion was carried with enthusiasm.
