Other than Canterbury skl, Australian 4sd, River Plate 4id.' N Beef.—The market is quiet. Quotations for New Zealand are nominal. Prices have slightly declined for all grades. Butter.—The market is firm, and is likely to remain so for some time. There is good demand. The average price for ihe week for choicest New Zealand butter was 1325, Australian 120 s, Argentine 1295, Danish 13Gs, Siberian 130 s. ' Cheese.—The market is quiet, but firm. White 725, coloured 71s Gd. Hemp.—The market is quiet, with little doing, but a good feeling prevails. New Zealand good fair grade, spot £2l os, New Zealand fair grade spot, £2O os; fair current Manila £2l ss; forward shipment New Zealand good fair £2l 10s New Zealand £22. The output from Manila for the week was 33,000 bales. The stock of Now Zealand liefnp is -101 tons. Wheat.—There is more ( demand. Holders are firm. New Zealand Jongberried wheat (spot, ex granary), per quarter of 4961 b 37s Gd, short-be .vied 375. The supply is small. Oats.—Tho supply is practically exhausted. New Zealand oats, short sparrow bills (spot, ex granary), per quarter of 3841 b, 26s Gd, Danish, per quarter of 3201 b, 235. Quotations are nominal.

Beans.—The market is firm, owing to reduced supplies. New Zealand beans, f.a.q., old crop, per 50flb, 09s. Cocksfoot Seed, —The market is very firm with light stocks on hand. New Zealand cocksfoot seed weighing 171 b per bushel, per cwt., on spot, 755. Mutton'and Lamb—The Haver Plate shipments received during January, 1912 were :

London.—Mutton: K!7 751 carcases; lamb, 5291. Liverpool.—Mutton: 91,213, lamb 44,216. Hull.—Mutton : 12,349, lamb 1114. Southampton.—Mutton : 9016, lamb 9115. Newcastle.—Mutton : 14.000, lamb 1500. Total.—Mutton: 242,860, lamb 61,536. January. 1911.—Mutton : 221,815, iamb 103,677.
